Synonym status:
Rhizomatous perennial to 1.5 m, stems rounded, bearing short branches above, flower clusters crowded and overlapping. Leaves linear-sword-shaped, broad, fibrotic. Flowers blue, style undivided, spathes lanceolate, dry-membranous, translucent with dark keels. Capsules short, 3-winged. Oct.--Dec. Mountain slopes, 100--900 m, NW, SW, LB, SE (Piketberg to George).
