For Alfredo Augusto Freire de Andrade (1859–1929), Portuguese politician and colonial administrator, a lieutenantgeneral in the Portuguese army (engineering corps), governor-general of Mozambique 1906–1910, and author of Relatorios Sobre Moçambique. He made a geological reconnaissance of the Portuguese territories between Lourenço Marques and the Zambezi River. Other positions he held include lecturer at the school of the Army, acting governor of Mozambique in 1892 and 1895, director general of the colonies from 1911–1913, secretary general of the Ministry of Education, chairman of the Board of Public Instruction, president of the Board of Public Instruction and minister for Foreign Affairs.
